Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Vitamount Capsules
Who is Vitamount for?
Pregnant and breastfeeding women. It provides 19 vitamins and minerals in one daily capsule, including folic acid, iron, vitamin D3, B12 and zinc at levels chosen for this stage.
Does it contain the folic acid I need in pregnancy?
Yes — 400µg per capsule, which matches UK guidance for pregnancy and for women trying to conceive. It also provides 10µg of vitamin D3, in line with the daily vitamin D recommendation for pregnancy.
Does it contain vitamin A?
Vitamin A is provided as mixed carotenoids from a natural source rather than as retinol. That distinction matters in pregnancy: high retinol intake is the form to avoid, whereas carotenoids are converted by the body as needed.
How much iron does it contain, and will it upset my stomach?
17mg per capsule, which is 121% of the NRV. Iron can cause mild digestive changes and darker stools in some people. Taking the capsule with a meal usually helps.
Can I take it while breastfeeding?
Yes — it's formulated for both pregnancy and lactation. As with anything taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding, mention it to your midwife, health visitor or GP, particularly if you've been prescribed any other supplement.
Can I take it alongside another prenatal supplement?
We'd advise against it. Vitamount is already a complete prenatal multivitamin, and doubling up risks exceeding safe levels of iron, iodine and other nutrients. If your midwife has prescribed something specific, take that and check with them before adding Vitamount.
Is it suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
Please contact us to confirm the current capsule shell specification before ordering if this matters to you — we'd rather check than guess.
Can't find the answer you're looking for?
Message us about the product or your order. For anything about your pregnancy, your midwife or GP is the right person to ask.
